Clarity, Direction, and Support for Your Family's Wellbeing

Child, adolescent & Adult Assessment Packages

At Cause Effect Psychology, our comprehensive assessment packages provide objective, evidence-based insights into how you or your child thinks, learns, and grows. We give you the clarity you need to move forward with confidence and the practical strategies to help everyone thrive.

Answers and Insights for Your Learning Journey

At Cause Effect Psychology, our assessment packages are designed to provide clarity, direction and practical support for you or your child and their teachers or care team.

Each package is all-inclusive: intake, testing (with breaks), questionnaires, professional scoring, a comprehensive report (10–20 pages), and a one-hour feedback consultation.

Our pricing reflects the specialist time involved — psychologists spend not only the hours you see in session, but also many hours outside session carefully analysing results, scoring questionnaires, and writing detailed, evidence-based reports that schools, GPs, paediatricians and the NDIS require.

A cognitive assessment may be helpful if:

  • Your child is performing well but you’d like deeper insight into their strengths, giftedness, or potential.

  • You’re an adult noticing struggles with focus, memory, or problem-solving in work, study, or daily life.

  • An older loved one is showing changes in memory or thinking, and you want clarity or peace of mind.

  • Stress, anxiety, or low mood are getting in the way of concentration and memory.

  • You need support in understanding decision-making ability for legal, medical, or financial matters.

A cognitive assessment provides an objective picture of how you or your child think, learn, and process information. It highlights strengths to build on and areas that may need support.

It can give you:

  • Clarity – understand learning styles, reasoning, memory, and problem-solving skills.

  • Confidence – know what strategies, adjustments, or supports will make the biggest difference at school, work, or in daily life.

  • Direction – guide educational, career, or personal decisions with tailored insights.

  • Early answers – identify learning, attention, or memory concerns before they become bigger hurdles.

  • Peace of mind – confirm giftedness, diagnose intellectual disability, or simply explain why certain tasks feel harder (or easier) than expected.

  • A stronger voice – use the report to access supports at school, in the workplace, or through health and community services.

  • A feedback session – where the psychologist explains the findings in plain language and answers your questions.

  • Recommendations for next steps – which may include school or workplace supports, referrals, or treatment options.

Combined Autism + ADHD Assessment

Fee $4,101 | Deposit $550 | Professional time ≈ 15 h

ADHD and autism often occur together and share overlapping traits. A combined assessment can provide clarity, reduce confusion, and ensure the right supports are in place. We recommend considering a combined assessment:

  • For children or adults showing a mix of attention, focus, and impulsivity difficulties with social or communication challenges.

  • Where sensory sensitivities, restlessness, or repetitive behaviours occur alongside concentration problems.

  • Students or employees struggling with organisation, learning, or workplace/school relationships.

  • Adolescents of adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or burnout linked to undiagnosed neurodivergence.

  • Families unsure whether behaviours reflect ADHD, autism, or both, and seeking a clear pathway to supports.

Assessment can assist:

  • Providing clarity on whether challenges are related to ADHD, autism, both, or something else.

  • Highlighting individual strengths and difficulties to better understand learning, behaviour, and daily functioning.

  • Offering tailored recommendations for school, work, and home to make day-to-day life easier.

  • Supporting access to funding, adjustments, and services (such as NDIS, school supports, or workplace accommodations).

  • Giving you or your child greater self-understanding and confidence, reducing stress and uncertainty.

Education & Learning Assessment

Fee $3,279 | Deposit $550 | Professional time ≈ 13 h

Our Early Learning Assessment is designed for children whose difficulties go beyond general thinking skills and are starting to show up in the classroom. It’s the right choice if your child:

  • Struggles with reading, writing, spelling, or maths and may need assessment for specific learning disorders (e.g., Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia).

  • Is falling behind in meeting educational milestones or school expectations.

  • Has ADHD or executive functioning concerns affecting attention, planning, or organisation in learning tasks.

  • Shows emotional or social difficulties that are impacting school performance.

  • Needs both a review of learning style and cognitive strengths/weaknesses and an understanding of how these apply to academic achievement.

  • Requires a clear diagnosis and tailored recommendations to support learning at school and home.

Unlike a cognitive assessment, which looks only at how a child thinks and learns, this package goes further — it tests how those skills are applied in real educational settings and identifies barriers to reaching learning goals.

  • Spots learning risks early, allowing targeted support before frustration or low self-esteem develop.
  • Provides teachers with clear, evidence-based strategies so adjustments can begin immediately.
  • Gives parents an objective view of strengths and growth areas, informing decisions on tutoring or therapy.
  • Developmental history intake (1-2 h)
  • Comprehensive cognitive testing WISC-V (1.5 h), academic assessment WIAT-III (2h)
  • Behaviour questionnaires
  • Scoring & report writing (5–6 h)
  • Feedback session with report delivery (1 h)
  • A comprehensive written report – outlining the results, diagnosis (if applicable), and practical recommendations.

  • Personalised strategies – tailored advice to support learning, work, and everyday life.

  • A feedback session – where the psychologist explains the findings in plain language and answers your questions.

  • Recommendations for next steps – which may include school or workplace supports, referrals, or treatment options.

Need Help or Next Steps?

Step 1: Initial Consultation

The first step is to book an initial consultation with one of our psychologists.

This session gives you the chance to:

  • share your concerns and your / your child’s developmental history,
  • learn about the assessment process, and
  • explore whether a full assessment is the right next step, or whether other options may be more appropriate.

Paying in Stages

  • We invoice in stages to make the process more manageable for families.
  • Each stage of the assessment (intake, testing, reporting, feedback) is billed separately.
  • Payment is required before each stage can go ahead, helping keep your / your child’s assessment on track.

Flexible Payment Options

We understand assessments are a big commitment. To make things easier, we offer:

  • Afterpay – spread payments into smaller fortnightly instalments.
  • Rebates and funding – some assessment appointments may be eligible for Medicare rebates, private health contributions, or NDIS (self- or plan-managed).

Financial Hardship

Please discuss pricing with your psychologist or our Practice Manager if you are experiencing financial hardship or other difficult circumstances which may require an adjustment of our pricing.

Need to Reschedule?

We know life with children can be unpredictable. If you need to reschedule, please give us at least 2 Business Days’ notice so we can offer your spot to another family.
If an appointment is missed without notice, a cancellation fee will be charged.

Take the next step

If you’re ready to take the next step, the best place to start is with an initial consultation. From there, we’ll guide you through the process, payment options, and what support is best for your child.
