At Cause Effect Psychology, we understand that family relationships can be complex — especially when parents are navigating separation, court orders, or difficult family transitions. Our Supervised Contact Service provides a safe, child-centred, and supportive environment for children to maintain meaningful relationships with their parents or other family members.
We provide a warm, neutral, and professional setting where:
Children feel safe and supported
Parents can focus on positive, quality time
Families can have confidence that visits are monitored respectfully and discreetly
All supervised contact services are overseen by qualified child & family psychologists experienced in child development, trauma, and family systems. Our team focuses on creating a calm and predictable environment, documenting interactions objectively, and supporting each family’s unique needs.
Supervised Visits: Conducted in our child-friendly practice, local outdoor spaces, or community settings.
Supervised Changeovers: Safe and neutral handovers between parents to minimise conflict and support the child’s comfort.
Observation Reports: Objective written reports available upon request — all reports are shared equally with both parents.
Psychological Support: Individual or family therapy sessions are available for either parent, the child, or the parent and child together. These sessions are delivered by a separate clinician and remain confidential to preserve the impartiality of the supervised contact process.
Therapy can help parents manage emotions, improve communication, and strengthen parenting relationships, while supporting children to feel secure, heard, and emotionally regulated — all of which contribute to more positive and effective contact experiences.
We operate as an independent and impartial service, ensuring all contact is managed fairly, respectfully, and in the best interests of the child.
Our approach is non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and child-focused. We understand that behind every referral is a family doing its best to navigate change — and we’re here to help.
We accept:
Private referrals from parents, family members, or lawyers
Court-ordered or agency-directed referrals
Referrals from family lawyers, mediators, or child safety officers
Our Supervised Contact Services are overseen by a multidisciplinary team including clinical child and family psychologists and play therapists, ensuring the highest standards of safety, ethics, and professionalism.
We adopt the Children’s Contact Services Guiding Principles Framework for Good Practice, ensuring every service is delivered through a trauma-informed, child-centred approach that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of children.
All intake assessments are conducted by a senior clinician, ensuring each family’s circumstances are understood and managed from the outset.

Please note that we are not a large supervised contact centre. Our service is part of our commitment to supporting children, adults, and families in our community through high-quality psychological care delivered by our experienced clinical and general psychologists. We maintain strict standards of conduct and professionalism within our practice to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all participants. We reserve the right to exercise discretion in accepting and continuing referrals to ensure that each service remains aligned with our values and capacity to provide the highest standard of care.
All clients are required to sign a Family Contact Services Agreement prior to attending their intake session. A 50% deposit for the intake session is payable at the time of booking to confirm your appointment. The balance is due on the day of the session. This process ensures that your booking is secured and that both parties understand the terms and expectations of the service before contact begins.
