Brett Somers is a registered Psychologist with approximately 10 years of experience in clinical counselling and corporate psychology, having worked in variety of settings, including both private and government organisations. Since completing his postgraduate qualifications, Brett has gained Associate Membership with the Australian Psychological Society. He is also an approved WorkCover, Medicare, and Department of Veterans’ Affairs Provider.

In a clinical setting, Brett takes a very collaborative and practical approach to counselling, utilising a variety of evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gottman Marital Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. He has experience working with adults, couples and adolescents across a broad range of psychological issues.

• Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress
• Depression and Mood Disorders
• Marital and Relationship concerns
• Anxiety, including Social Phobia, other Phobias, Generalised Anxiety, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
• Stress and Organisational issues
• Adjustment to Injury
• Sexual Health and Dysfunction

Furthermore, he has worked as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Provider for medium and large organisations internationally, and across Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

With experience working in an organisational psychology setting, Brett frequently undertakes workshop training and facilitation and enjoys using and interpreting a variety of psychometric assessments for the purpose of pre-employment selection, training, and development. In an organisational capacity, Brett has also undertaken outplacement, critical incident management, and vocational counselling.

Brett values the relationships he builds with clients, both in a counselling and organisational context. He aims to deliver a high quality service to ensure measurable and lasting outcomes.
